Introduction: It is noteworthy that poor families are unable to provide the necessary support to their children, while aging parents, as if they will live longer, use their votes according to their desired lifestyle. This lifestyle has a closed-minded, religious nature that directs people to be thankful for the disadvantages of religion. Especially in a geographically uneducated region like Turkey, when influenced by religion and culture, religions actually encourage people to be grateful for a bad life controlled by the intelligent and powerful. Because imagine waking up one morning and there is no religion! What will these people hold on to? How will they feel comfortable? How will they sit quietly in this life without thinking that praying and believing their afterlife will be better? In such a situation, a person immediately demands what is rightfully theirs. They want equality. Thoughts like why are they living there and why am I here swirl in their minds…
Lack of Education and Governance
Unfortunately, Turkey is an uneducated region and the leaders generally try to control education by limiting it or being ignorant of what education means. Although education seems to be provided, the education offered is insufficient. Uneducated people can be more easily controlled, and the structural characteristics of Turkish society support this situation. When we look at history, we see that the Turks lived a nomadic life instead of developing themselves. In the last 20 years, religion has been used as a control mechanism, impoverishing people and creating a leader who is loved more than their own children, blindly adhering to their rhetoric. If this leader governed another country, he could pursue different strategies, but he can more easily manage and achieve what he wants with an uneducated society like Turkey. First of all, we should know what politics means. People asking for your vote will say anything for that position. If Fatih Sultan Mehmet were alive today, would he ride a horse? Or would he be an intellectual person? Of course, he was one of the most intellectual people of his time… How many languages did he know? Do you know these? But our people are also right! Because they were given religion and told to live here. What can our nation do? How can you get angry at a society that is given religion, which is all knowledge and science to them? How can we get angry at our elders? The only thing we can do is to give our children a good life…
The Role of Parents and Freedom of Thought
The elderly population generally blindly vote for their leaders to continue this lifestyle. The reason for this is also their lack of education. However, by using the internet or acquiring at least some education, we gain the ability to think and distinguish right from wrong to some extent. The elderly population has a simple question to ask themselves: Did we bring our children into the world so that they can live a miserable life? Should we direct them towards a life where we do not need to support them? If we cannot give them anything, maybe we should vote for the life they want. Of course, everyone’s democratic rights should be respected, and they should use their votes freely. However, it is thought-provoking to vote without asking ourselves this question. By reviewing these questions, we should do what we want. But I know that the majority will act according to the life they want. Nevertheless, asking these questions can open our minds to some extent.
Perception and Imagination of the Elderly Population
The imagination of the elderly population is limited, and they only know this lifestyle. They are not aware that they are unable to provide their children with a real life. On the contrary, they believe that the life they provide is quite good. Because all they can do is evaluate the present day compared to 50 years ago. However, it is not enough to compare with the past to claim that we are in a good condition today. This is normal because we would not want to regress in 50 years, would we? Should we still use triangular wheels? Geography, Religion, and Human Power Turkey’s geography is poor, and a large portion of the population is religious. The power of the minority that has developed themselves does not have any effect. In this case, it is quite difficult to realize our thoughts, expectations, and desires.
